Greetings!
Spring is in full swing here in Texas...the wildflowers are out and a good amount of rain means the creeks and rivers are full. Despite the great weather, I'm still managing to tick away at a new novel.
I just wanted to share some recent news from my website (www.dominicsmith.net):
--"The Mercury Visions of Louis Daguerre" just received the 2006 Steven Turner Prize for First Fiction from the Texas Institute of Letters. The novel came out in paperback in January.
--A terrific first pre-publication review has come out for my forthcoming second novel "The Beautiful Miscellaneous" (out June 5th) in Kirkus Reviews. The highlights are: "...[a] finely modulated second novel...the unerringly true dialogue is a delight...a luminous addition to novels about fathers and sons..." See my website for more details about the novel.
--I now have a myspace page at www.myspace.com/authordominicsmith
It's still under construction but I would love to get friend requests from folks who have a myspace page.
Hope this short update finds you well. Thanks for your interest in my work.
Happy spring!
Dominic
